What Does Diversity Training Encompass?

The first step, before the actual training begins, is an assessment of where the company stands on diversity issues.

A diversity assessment will:

  • Identify the key diversity related issues at the company
  • Gather data regarding staffing and promotions
  • Measure employee sentiment and perceptions
  • Identify dysfunctional behaviors that are barriers to diversity
  • Review diversity practices that impact diversity within the organization

The next step is the implementation of a diversity initiative that includes training and other appropriate company reforms.

The goals of the initiative will focus on:

  • Gaining a deeper level of support and buy-in from managers and employees
  • Positioning diversity as a way of conducting business versus a momentary human resources department initiative
  • Reinforcing management's commitment to a diverse workforce
  • Creating an environment of inclusion and diversity success
  • Building commitment and accountability within senior management
